Nanjing Agricultural University originated from the agricultural natural science of Sanjiang Normal College, which started in 1902 and the agricultural science of Private University of Nanking, which started in 1914, with this two predecessors of National Central University and Private University of Nanking, every step in more than 110 years of history has drawn the development track of Chinese agriculture and agricultural higher education. At present, the university is building a world-class agricultural university on the journey forward.

Since its founding, Nanjing Agricultural University has cultivated more than 300,000 outstanding students. Among them are a large number of talented figures in the academic, commercial and political fields, including several hundred academic masters (including 58 academicians), dozens of outstanding leaders at the provincial or ministerial level and a large number of famous entrepreneurs. Adhering to the spirit of Nanjing Agricultural University as "Honesty, Plain, Diligence and Benevolence ", they devoted themselves to scientific research, conducted themselves honorably to open the chapter of modern agriculture and climbed to the top of world agricultural science or they treated the whole  world kindly and generously to undertake the tradition of the combination of agricultural science and education, writing a new brilliant of Chinese agricultural civilization.
